New Tabs
« on: July 27, 2012, 09:16:15 AM »
Hi Jacques,

I know I might be "ahead of the game", but I'd like to know how I can add more tabs to the current ones I have.
I can "shrink" the existing ones and add 1 or 2 tabs, but that wil probably make the text too small, too little to read :D
I've seen Weather Blues sites with a 2nd row of tabs, or..............is it just a matter of having patience and wait for V2 (with drop down menus)...??

Thanks,

Arthur

HI Jacques,

In addition to previous thread, a bit more information.
I would like to add a page with N-America, Canada and zoomed Toronto area radar images.
For now, can I add a page without showing it in the tabs??
i.e http://altonaweather.ca/radar.htm with a link on one of the other pages, but this (radar) page (tab) will not be shown in the exiting header (tabs)

Thanks,

Arthur

Hi Arthur,

So manny pages!! Are you still a weather station... or plan to challenge Weather Network?

I agree with you that your menu is pretty full, you couldn't shrink it more, to still be
readable! Surely a solution could be to duplicate menu bar, but that solution is... so so!
As you mentionned, it would be more wise to prepare your new page, but wait to include it
on new v2 template. ;)

I'm working on so many things at a time, but all have to be in place!
- Meteo du Quebec's forum restructuration (thanks to virusdunil help)
- Weather sky final release and its documentation. (finishing today)
- Weather Blues v2 (work to do: 2 days)
- Move english content from Météo du Québec to Weather by You!
- Finish EC module in 2 versions

Then, you see I'm pretty buzy! But if things goes well, Weather Blues v2 will be
available early next week.

A thing that could help me, if you had some time to "approve" my documentation
for Weather Sky (I work on last page, 80% done), I'll be free to work on Weather
Blues v2 this week-end. LinK: http://weatherbyyou.com/ws_sheet.php

EDIT: 100% done, at noon!  :D

Then, a lot of stuff for next days!

Regards,
Jacques

Ps. I'll be glad if you could be more critic on my English!

Hi Jacques,

There's a lot on your plate!!!!!!!
I'll be happy to check on the Weather Sky template. What I've seen so far is pretty well done!! Easy to understand in a step-by-step way.
AS for your English, don't worry too much about it.
As long as the essance of your explanation is good to understand (which always is the case) it serves the purpose and that's to explain of how to implement the template on the web (and the different steps to do so).
IF you want me to so, I'll check it completely over the next day (Saturday), and will copy/paste in a Word document some of the grammar corrections.
D'accord??

Cheers,

Arthur

PS: At the moment I'll make a direct link on my first page [RADAR] which will open the [link] page in which the radar image is displayed. I have the image and link to Wunderground radar but it doesn't "run"....Just a "static" image......
Maybe have a look  :D  :D
Thanks

HI Jacques,

I figured it out with the Wunderground Radar image.
Put a link in [now] page to [links] for the time being.
Once more pages become available (V2) the radar section will get its own page with other temp/UV etc etc country-wide overviews.

Cheers,

Arthur

Hi Arthur,

New pages are going real good!  :D

For English "corrections", I wasn't thinking about grammar! I think almost
having the right word (ex. then/than, there/they"re). "Anglos" could read it
because fault  is small and they replace wrong word in their head with right one.

I'm in a small town with no chance to practice... I've worked at Montreal
during 7 years, but never had chance to practice neither... Then, with only
readings opportunity, I've talk/write as a 5 year boy!

Jacques

HI Jacques,

After my "battle" with RecordT and related issues kept me swearing and sweating behind my PC till 3:45am, I'll have a look as soon as I've followed your instructions in regards to the new Record page  :D
Keep in mind that English is NOT my "mother-tongue" either.........
Born and raised in The Netherlands, I arrived in Canada 12 years ago..
Having said that, English is the official 2nd language in Holland and practically all Dutch speak it better than they play soccer    :D
(I started in grade 3, did an official language course in Cambridge, UK for 3 month after high school (my parents' s opinion was that English was just as important as to get your drivers license  ) so all and all I'll give it a try to make Weather Sky's template in this way OK..

Cheers,

Arthur

Hi Arthur,

I've thinked about that a few, and what do you think of it?

Duplication of menu bar is not very "stylish", instead prepare to v2
by "grouping" pages. In WB2, you won't have more place on the menu bar
to add new items "in-line", you'll have to group pages!

Then: now, today and yesterday could be grouped under "Recents"... and so on!
As menu are independant from page to page, you just have to add a "Home" item
to return to return to main page (index.htm)

By this you prepare to V2, and could add brand new (sub) menus all over!

Just an idea!

Jacques

HI Jacques,

Sounds like a good plan (I've seen it in your beta version of WB2.)
However, HOW do I "group" pages like [now], [today], [yesterday] into 1 [home] group...???
And if so, how will it be displayed (I probably have to add somekind of a "drop-down" menu element..???

Thanks,

Arthur

Hi Arthur,

Could be something like this: (yellow is for new item)

[attachment=0:p3mz872u]bew_menu.jpg[/attachment:p3mz872u]

All htm page menu is independant, then remove item you want (the <li>...</li> ).
In today and yesterday keep only <li>...</li> index, today, and yesterday
(But NOW "title" have to be changed to HOME!)

Hi Jacques,

Looks great to me...!!!!! WAUW....!!

1) Where does the 2nd menu bar comes from??? (create a new "id_buttons"....???)
2) I forgot how to change the [tab] size / font. I remember I changed something in a .css file, but where (anyhow, that's for later to perfect display again, after I figured out the 2md bar.. :D )

Cheers,

Arthur
