Requirements
« on: March 19, 2013, 05:28:48 AM »
OK I am lazy and haven't searched thoroughly, I am sure.

However, although the templates are all great and I am at a loss as to which one to choose, I don't see any sort of description of requirements, particularly with regard to Cumulus.

Essentially, the only thing I am interested in is what is required of Cumulus, if anything, as far as FTP is concerned, as I cannot get it to talk to my website. I use a standalone FTP product to transfer the realtime.txt file automatically (also, I don't like the idea of transferring graphics files for their templates).

So, I guess what I am asking is, do the templates require any data from Cumulus that can't be created client side and then FTP'd using 3rd party software?

Hi Glue,

We don't need Ftp program in daily use! Cumulus do all the job,
without any human intervention. Ftp is only for transfering template
and all component, after, Cumulus do the rest. As all has been planed,
run Cumulus and confirure it wisely to do all "twist" that you can think of!

Jacques

As I explained, Cumulus won't talk to my website currently so how do you expect it to talk to your template website? What I need to know is whether the data is or can be created locally so that I can transfer it myself.

Bonjour Glue,

Les templates html se retrouvent dans le dossier C:\Cumulus\web
et les données dans C:\Cumulus\data.

Amicalement,
Jacques

Hi Glue,

Data files depend from template used! But all files are processed
in the folder where the file is. So, check where are the file wt_data_inc.php
(and other files template could need) and transfer them.

Cumulus data folder contain only raw data, so you need Cumulus calculations.

Hope this help,

Regards,
Jacques

Well, a couple of things..
I guess you're aware that Cumulus doesn't support SFTP. Consequently I have to use an external program (WinSCP) to transmit any files. That is why it would be nice if there was a definitive list of files required to be transmitted for each template, as opposed to having them strewn about amongst the description, so I could setup my WinSCP script appropriately.
Secondly, I don't know if your documentation is out of date or not but you refer to "Cumulus tags" and PHP as if they are two separate things, whereas Cumulus produces a PHP tag file. So, why don't you use that, as opposed to creating your own peculiar set of PHP files?

Hi Glue,

For sure I create things for "standard" installations and couldn't cover all possible
kind of situation. That is why I've detailled all files into the zip file. You just have
to take that list and note all files needing processing.

For PHP webtags, I haven't heard of Cumulus direct php production. I've seen a file
'cumuluswebtags.txt' in the wiki, but dated on 2011. Also, this file is plain English
but I need more to support all languages rightly. When on a non-English site (mine
is French), it's 'bad' to have all words translated (14 different languages!), but
having timestamps only in English: at 05:29 on 22 november 2011. So, yes
if Cumulus was able to produce these, I hadn't produced a 750 lines data files
and 1250 lines monthly records file.

Jacques
