Title: MDQ Blues Eng V1
Post by: uncle_bob on December 25, 2011, 05:54:47 PM
I've got a few questions that I'll post here if I may, and I'll added to it as more pop up :)
First one :)
How do I change it so the local clock so it actually shows the local time? (I've managed to change the text)

Hi Uncle_Bob,

First, welcome at my home (site) in St-Ours, Quebec, Canada... as you already know (in template clock).

To be a little "teacher" in my template, I've let the clock as it was created. By that fact you have to put hands in the mud and learn a few! The trick is fairly simple, for clock, you have 2 .js file in folder js :
 - clockt.js
 - clockp.js ("P" for parameters)

You edit clockp.js, it's really simple, you'll find inside 14 parameters with clear names. The one that interest you is mytimezone. Actually, it's set for Montréal, Quebec, Canada (-5). You just have to change it with number corresponding to your timezone!

As simple as that!

Your friend,
Jacques

Thanks my friend, I'll give that a shot.

Edit: Done! Note though, I had to change DST to 1 ;)
Double edit: To be clear for others, this "js" folder is in the js folder on your web server.

Next thing I've got to do is change the images on the "About page" with the Google one looking a little difficult :)

Hi Bob,

In good template there is always a few little thing to understand to become better in "Webmastering". :D

For your personal map, you go on Google maps, locating adress you want. Adapt zoom as you wish, to show farther or closer to your coordinates. Then locate on map a piece of chain representing "link". By clicking on it, Google will open a window offering you shorted link or a complete link.

That longest link is supposed to start with something like <iframe width="450px"...
Copy the entire link, and replace link in infos.htm page. Take care, Google offer a bigger frame then what you need... Keep size from template.

If you want a pinpoint, you have to "name" an exact (precise) complete adress (Google adress).

I know that Google have different "look", depend on country... I hope that these guidance apply to you.

Friendly tours,
Jacques

Ps is your name Bob?

Thanks to you both.

Bob, I was still messing about with it. Should be settled now. (hopefully)

Can't get realtime.txt to work for some reason? Couldn't get it to work on cumulus web template either but I'll keep trying.

Once again thanks to Jacques for his brilliant template.

Kind Regards

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

This template is not expected to be 100% Realtime, but simulated realtime.
You have to go to your Cumulus configuration menu --> Internet --> Sites/Options,
Then Web Settings, you'll find an option labelled "Realtime.txt FTP"

That is the option to tick for bigger wind gauges, in gauges page.

Hope this help!

Hi!

For sur you can!

For big lettering it's :
Papyrus 84 italiq bold, colorr 5594DE, transparency 160

For small lettering, it's:
Raavi 28 bold

I have Windows 7, then it could be to copy!

I have something funny going on with the "gauges" page, looks like old graphics?

What step have I missed?  :lol:

Hi 41,

Are you using some Windows feature to resize your desktop?
As Cumulus do a kind of "Print Screen", your display as to be "standard".

On Windows 7, I had set my Theme with large fonts with desktop zoom set to 125%! for my old eyes. Some time after, I realized that my gauges was 223px size, instead of 190px!  :o

Then, search on video mode side, maybe could be your graphic card setting too.

Hope this help,
Jacques

Hi Jacques - not at all unfortunately  :lol:

Are you saying that the size of the graphic on my Cumulus PC has something to do with how it looks on the web page? I run Cumulus on a Netbook, so it has an unusual wide screen format. But the graphics do not even look to be the right ones compared with others using the template.
Hopefully you can help as this is the only problem I have so far - but it's a big one.

Maybe I will have to bring forward my foray into the the "Steelseries" guages  :?

edit: I just re-read your reply about the screen scraping of the guages :(  How do other users have different coloured guages  :?:

Many thanks
Colin.

Hi Colin,

Yes, I think that we have found your problem!
As you see there is only 3 gauges that are faulty... the 3 ones that appear on your Cumulus main screen.
Cumulus is working on regular 1024 x 768 resolution and netbooks are often doing some "trickeries" to strech display to fill the screen.

As you mentionned, SteelSeries gauges are different... and of course it could solve your problems as they "calculate" gauges to draw independently from Cumulus.

Also, your colors for gauges could be changed by using Cumulus Configuration --> Colours menu to specify your own colors. Or you may use my "Cumulus Color Schemer" to "inject" to your Cumulus install, the colors that match your template.

Hope having help you solve that issue.

Jacques

Thanks again Jacques, I tried adjusting the 'on-screen' resolution but that made no difference, so this must be at a hardware level with the "trickery" as you suggest. :lol:
I'll have to see if it is possible to do a reasonably quick change to Steel Series before I go away on holiday next week. :roll:

Hi,

Difficult to follow here and Cumulus Forum  :lol:

For your problem, you could effectively force size, this is the recepice:

In Style.css, search thoses 2 lines :

background: url(images/compass.png) 0px 0px no-repeat;
background: url(images/windgauge.png) 0px 0px no-repeat;

after each of these, insert this line :
background-size:190px 190px;

For The Wind Dispersion Gauge, in gaugesT.htm modify that line (add all in red) :

<img src="images/windrose.png" id="WindRose" height="190px" width="190px" alt="Rose des Vents" title="entete=[Histogramme des Vents] body=[<table cellpadding=3 style='font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica; font-size: 9px; color: #000055;'><tr><td><b>Représentation graphique de la vitesse et la direction du vent<br />(jusqu'à 3600 lectures)</b></td></tr></table>] delay=[1000]" />

This will save you time... to prepare travel!  :D

The windrose isn't perfect, but much better than it was. The other 2 gauges are right on the button - thanks again.

Hi Peter.

It's been a while so my memory is vage.
I think you need to edit the indexT.htm file in cumulus/web folder.
Look for this bit (it's towards the bottom)....
Code: [Select]
<div class="pan_clock">
<div class="local_time">
<h1 style="padding: 5px 0px; text-align:center">Local Time</h1>
<p><strong>Conder, Tuggeranong</strong></p>
<p><strong>Canberra, Australia</strong></p>
</div>
Change the part (in my case) where it says Conder, Tuggeranong and Canberra, Australia to you location.
When Cumulus uploads next time to your web server it will be all good (I think :) )

BTW, the template is Jacques fine work.
