Title: move language selection elswhere than header menu

I have added pages and corresponding links to header_menu.  As a result, the language selection was crowded out. I removed the language select code from the header, however, I would like to make it available on a different part of the page ( preferably to the right of the logo). When I move the code to a different location either in the header_menu or index.php, it simply does NOT show up in a browser. I'm missing something. Reviewed styles.css and couldn't find any obvious fix. Any clues anyone?
