Help Installing Weather Blues 2 on IIS
« on: January 02, 2013, 02:00:47 AM »
Hi All

I seem to be a little confused by how this Cumulus / Weather Blues V2 works.. I've come from pywws so the process appears different. :(

I have got to the point of trying to use the manage the template but am unable to write to the folders... which I suspect is what I want considering its a webpage. So how do I update the files?
I mad the changes I wanted in the files from the instructions.

I Downloaded the template and put it in the "web" folder in Cumulus and the copied the files to "c:\inetpub\cumulus", I then told Cumulus to process the file as such.

"C:\cumulus\web\wt_data_inc.php" -> "C:\inetpub\cumulus\wt_data_inc.php" and no tick in FTP as it is on the same server.

Now what? Manage doesn't let me do anything as I can't write to the folders.... and wouldn't want to be able to considering its web-facing.

Help... slightly lost

Hi ry,

Yes, Cumulus template work far from pywws way! In pywws, you have to
do "calculations" inside text files that is included in php template file. With
Cumulus, things are pretty different as there is no "calculations" involved!
Cumulus have more then 500 "webtags" to answer all situations!

For the particular case of my php templates, you have only 1 file to process
(2 for version 1.9.3), wt_data_inc.php and this file could be at any place
as you can point to it with the "browse" button. (you have to tell Cumulus
that you don't want to process standart html template by "unticking" option
"include standard template" in menu Configuration --> Internet --> Files).

All other files and folders in the .zip file have to be "throw" in a folder on
your web server. Processed file will be included in each page and provide
data you need in your pages.

For the clock, it is supposed to work alone when you send all folders and
subfolders structure cointained in the zip file. Then it was planned to be
a simple "copy all files and folders" process. To configure your clock, you
just have to follow instructions to the end to see how to configure it for
your particular timezone! (link: http://weatherbyyou.com/wb_install.php)

Hope you like it!

Jacques

Thanks you for the reply,

Just trying to understand the process I am running 1.9.3 (1057) Cumulus, you say there are 2 files to process? I have the one "wt_data_inc.php" , what's the other one?

So does that mean that I only need one folder. So can I use the C:\Cumulus\web as the root folder for the webserver? or do you need 2 separate folders to generate the website? If I only need the one folder, how do I configure Cumulus?

Thanks again for your help :)

Hi Ry,

Sorry, I've mixed you because I'm preparing my templates for Cumulus v1.9.3.
What you have downloaded is Weather Blues for Cumulus v1.9.2. After, if you feel
a bit to play with your template, there is a patch existing for that template!

Then don't worry about v1.9.3 and install your template. When things will be on,
come and we will talk about this patch!

And all things are simple to 1 folder installation!

Regards,
Jacques

(Sorry, 1.9.3 is long awaited version and was supposed to be out for Xmas!)

Hi again, thank you so much for your help.

I am running 1.9.3 (1057), what patches do I need to do to make it work?

I have set Cumulus internet Settings to (I am using the same folder for Cumulus and the Webserver (C:\cumulus\web)

Local Filename -> Remote Filename as
C:\cumulus\web\wt_data_inc.php -> C:\cumulus\web\wt_data_inc.php

Is that correct? for some reason my website is not updating even though the files seem to?

What do I need to do?

Have I got it right?

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

You don't need anything more to run this template as a  Cumulus v1.9.2
template. For running your template  you need to send the wt_data_inc.php
file. But local is on you local drive (probably C:), but the remote path is on
a remote drive. Usually public_html/weather on ftp.MyWebsite.com

Look to configure Cumulus in Configurtion --> Station ftp parameter
(If you send your pages to an external site!)

Hi Again

I am running the webserver on the same pc as cumulus so is all on the same server. So I'm not using FTP.

So Do I need to have 2 folders or can they be 1 folder? I am not running 1.9.2... are you saying I have to?

Its running on Windows Home Server 2011

Hi Ryan,

NO! You don't need 2 folders... just ONE folder to put all files and folders into.
If you run your own webserver, effectively, local and remote paths are
on the same Pc... and simply don't tick option "ftp?"
