realtimegauges.txt file not updating for weather sunset template
« on: December 05, 2012, 04:45:22 PM »
I have just got this up and running as I like the look and feel better than he others.  This is great template - thanks.

The only problem I have is that for some reason my guages are not updating at all and I have the banner saying the station is off line.  I cannot see where this is driven from.

The last date stamp on the realtimegauges.txt is over 36 days ago, and I am guessing that is where all my problems with the guages are coming from.  Any hints on getting this generating again.

Running the last beta update of cumulus   www.wallacess.id.au/weather

Actually I had the same thing, nothing in the installation documentation to say we need to configure anything special for steelseries gauges..

So I started cumulus to upload \Cumulus\web\realtimegaugesT.txt to the
/realtimegauges.txt and now I get message "your reatime.txt file needs updating" .

Perhaps Mr Meteo you could help  us configure cumulus and website correctly?

I have done a bit more research and have found that we nead the realtimeguagesT.txt to put in the cumulus folder and then process to upload to the ftp site.

I have found one version of this on the Sandaysoft forum but I get an error that it is the wrong version.

So if we get the right version we will be away laughing

Hi,

I think having forgot to join a file in the archive!  :-[
Effectively, to have working gauges, you have to add a file
to the list of file to be processed by Cumulus: realtimegaugesT.txt

Take care when processing that file, input file has a capital "T", but not output file!!
As a reminder, you have to do this, in Cumulus menu: Configuration --> Internet --> Files

    Local filename = <path>\Cumulus\web\realtimegaugesT.txt
    Remote filename = <website_root_path>/realtimegauges.txt
    Process = Yes
    Realtime = Yes
FTP = Yes (unless you are local hosing)

Needed file attached to this post.

Regards,
Jacques

Hi Peter,

You could try to delete folder lib/steelseries
and take a new copy right from the template archive file.

Maybe some version mix!

Mine is now fixed. After adding the process into cumulus it was FTP'ing realtime to the server, but the data was not loading into the template.

I ended up saving any customized tabs (infos.php, images/slides folder, images.php), deleting all files, deleting everything off the website server, downloading new templates from here, reinstalling raw onto the server, confirmed gauges were working, then added customization, and images back in.

Works perfectly now, I'm quite pleased actually. I have learnt a lot playing with Mr Meteo's templates.

Hi Rob,

I have the same problem as above, have also done what you said about deleting the folder I still have the same problem

Check to see it your file realtimegauges.txt on your website is updating (timestamp changing
according to Cumulus updates). Also, make sure that this file is sent in the same folder as
the file gauges.htm

Also, for your monthly records page, you have to do an initialisation process for these records,
this is a Cumulus obligation due to frequent "spikes" in data. To do it, just follow these detailed
steps explained in that post: http://weatherbyyou.com/forum/index.php?topic=515.msg1731#msg1731

Hope this help.

Jacques

Hi Rob,

and gauges.htm in same folder?

Yes, realtimegauges.txt must be in the same folder as ALL your other
weather pages (root of your weather website).

Hi Rob,

I have copied (Vacuum) your site and see nowhere the needed realtimegauges.txt file.
Double check your Cumulus config as indicated in early post in that thread.
Make sure you have ticked option Ftp? too.

Jacques
