New Raspberry Pi Weather Station and Server
« on: January 28, 2013, 03:22:55 PM »
After a frozen and snowy week of being stuck indoors I have put my weather station online at www.mattbeardsworth.co.uk

The weather station is the Maplin's £60 touch sceen, connected to a Raspberry Pi running Jim Easterbrook's excellent Pywws. The Pi is also the server for the website, I used Lighttpd rather than Apache to keep it easy on the Raspberry Pi's limited resources.

Overall I'm very pleased with the setup, one Raspberry Pi ~5W and one powered usb hub ~5W (which also powers the touch screen, no batteries) making 10 watts for a full weather station and web server.

Many thanks to Jacques for the template which gives the site a much more professional look than I am capable of.

Matt.

Hi Matt,
Very interesting results with this little marvel!  ^-^

I was pretty tempted by this project, but my wife
found that 3 Pc, 2 routeurs, 2 stations is enough! No way for a 3rd station!  >:D

Bravo! Pretty project!

Regards,
Jacques

I love how you used a Raspberry Pi for this.  :)

I used the same template for my new weather station... it's currently the only pywws template, so that's not too surprising. I also positioned my moon-phase like you did - I saw it on your page and just had to copy it... hope you aren't mad.  :-X

My apologies to anybody has failed to look at my site over the past couple of days, I've been having some broadband connection problems which have now been fixed.

You're welcome to the moonphase idea, I had a look at your site which made me think that I must knuckle down this weekend and adjust the scales on my plots to a more suitable level. Very nicely done.

Unfortunately the Raspberry Pi appears to have died, well the usb connection has packed in. I'll be up and running again next week.
