Unable to update Weather Blues (php) Template
« on: June 04, 2014, 11:32:52 AM »
First of all, great templates -been using them for a while but only just posting for the first time  :)

When I open the TEMPLATE MANAGEMENT page, I get an error at the top of the page:

Unable to write update file include/latest.php Unable to write update file include/all_languages.php Unable to write update file include/local_lang.php

When I try to update a file, I get:

Langusge to update: text_standard_en.php
OK Remote file: is available.
OK Local file: is available.
ERR Copy failed.

Any idas on either issue please ??

Where are the files downloaded to, or are they direct to the server ??

UPDATE: I have chmod o+w my weather directory and the update partially works/fails:

File to update: manage.php
OK Remote file: is available.
OK Local file: is available.
OK Backup file successfull.
Unable to write update file manage.php
ERR Error writing file!!

I'm not happy having to allow o+w access to directories/files, so what needs to be done please ??

TIA.

Hi TIA,

Yes, templates need to be "writable" to be updated. As files
need to be renamed, security have to be "relaxed".

Maybe you could "open the gate" to update your Template
and restrict them to your need after update.

Templates has been planned to be used in "regular" mode
as most providers assign "666" to all new files.

Jacques

OK, thanks Jacques.

I have set my directory to 777 for the time being, but still getting errors:

OK, so I have to chmod o+w to all of the php files as well and then change back to before.

Still getting a few failures duing the update process:

File to update: wt_data_inc.php
OK Remote file: is available.
OK Local file: is available.
ERR Copy failed.

Also, I keep updating manage.php but when ersion is there and it needs to update.
