Weather Blue 2 new gauges help please
« on: June 08, 2013, 11:42:00 PM »
Hi
Firstly thanks very much for the templates - I have loaded Weather Blue 2 yesterday and love it over the standard Cumulus pages.
I then found your new gauges and wanted to use the light one with UV.
I found the download and unzipped it. I added the gauges-light_UV file to my main directory along with the realtimegaugesT file. I also added the gauges-ss folder and its files to the lib folder and the two files in style I added to my style folder.
The gauges page loads on my web page, but does not have any gauges showing and I get a message runnign across the grey line saying HTTP request failled - error. Not found.
So I know I have not put a file somwhere I should have but I am stumped.
Can someone help me please?
This is the page I am having problems with if it is any help
http://www.rdr.co.nz/weather/gauges-light_UV.php

Thanks so much for your help - I am a little experienced novice so I appreciate your patience with me  ;)

Regards
Raewyn

Hi Raewyn,
Welcome to the site! :)
Your site is already customized! Pretty photos!
For the gauges, you have to process the file realtimegaugesT.txt
into Cumulus, you have to configure that files as a custom file to process.

Check "Cumulus configuration" at this link: http://weatherbyyou.com/wb_install.php#install
Local file is realtimegaugesT.txt
Remote file is realtimegauges.txt (Remark 'T' missing!)

The file need to be sent on your main weather folder, in the same place
as the files index, today, yesterday are.

Hope this help,

Best Regards,
Jacques

G'day Raewyn,

I had the same problem as the instructions weren't very clear. I guess Jacques was in a rush to get out on a hot date  :))

My problem was compounded by a strange problem with Cumulus not uploading the realtimegauges.txt file. I can also see this file isn't present on you website, once it's uploading (like Jacques suggested above) all will come good. You can read about my uploading woes here: http://sandaysoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10104

Tauranga and the Mount are a beautiful spot  ;)

Cheers Bob

Thank you Jacques for your instrucstions and they have worked perfectly.  Thank you also for your kind workds about my customisation  ;)

Uncle_bob thank you for your comments as well - yes we like living here and think it is a lovley place as well.

I have just one question about the gauges. Is there a way to make the size of the gauge slightly smaller?  On my laptop when I view the screen the gauges are larger than the background box. I also have a problem with the bar that forecasts the weather plus a countdown for the next refresh does not sit evenly in the blue background.
I would appreciate it if you could have a look again at my page and see if you see the same thing and if so if there is a way to fix it.
I really appreciate all of your help and am really enjoying working on this site

Regards
Raewyn

Hi Raewyn,
You are pretty welcome! Site is there to do things the easy way.  :D

For your gauges, I suspect a mix in files as your gauges
seems to be "reset" to standard SS size.

Gauges pack has been planned to be no trouble install;
simply unzip archive and throw all files and folders in your
main weather site folder.

So try to re-install at first.

Jacques

You are so on to it Jacques.
Yes reloading those files has solved the problem with the location and size on the gauges page - just perfect thanks so much. I really appreciate your help

Hi Fox,

Sorry, this gauges pack is for Weather Blues v2. This is the same Template
as yours, but in php. Php is not a mistery, you could download the php version
and look at files to see différences.

This Template is in 2 version: v1 (Html) is basic and v2 (Php) is more "clever"!
Html is like a printed book, nothing could be changed. Cumulus use its own language
to replace 'special words' with fresh weather data, at each 15mins or so... a bit like Php!

I've made a section for DIYers, see: http://weatherbyyou.com/diy_begin.php
You will learn a lot... and questions are always welcome!

Best regards,
Jacques

Hi Fox,

Your problem is that the gauges couldn't find the file realtimegauges.txt
This file need to be processed by Cumulus and sent to the weather site main folder.
Check your package, you'll find realtimegaugesT.txt, this is
the file to be processed.

Jacques
